StampWalk Privacy Policy

StampWalk lets adults create invitation-only walking, cycling, and hiking stamp points and collect stamps by visiting them. This policy describes the information used by the app.

Account and profile

StampWalk uses Firebase Authentication. A guest receives an anonymous Firebase user ID; you can connect an email/password or Google sign-in to keep the same StampWalk profile across devices. Authentication uses your user ID, sign-in credentials or Google identity token, and session tokens. Google may also provide basic profile details such as your name and photo URL to the shared Firebase Authentication identity; StampWalk's member ranking uses a separate generated pseudonym. Passwords and sign-in tokens are not published in challenges or rankings. Google sign-in is optional.

Places, visits, and members

When you create a challenge, we store its name, activity type, selected default stamp artwork, point coordinates and radius, time zone, invitation code, owner ID, and creation time. People with its invitation code can join and see the point and challenge details. Do not create points at a private home or confidential location, or share an invitation code with people who should not see the point.

With foreground location permission, the app obtains device-reported precise coordinates and accuracy when you choose to create a point or collect a stamp. It sends that sample to the server to validate point creation or check collection distance and eligibility; the visit sample is not stored as a route history. A successful collection stores the challenge and point identifiers, collection time, selected artwork, and score. Location permission is not used for background tracking. The app does not collect health metrics.

Challenge membership stores your user ID, a generated pseudonym, joining time, and ranking preference. Rankings are visible to members of that challenge. Sharing your score and pseudonym in rankings is optional and can be turned off in the app. Other members may already have seen information you shared.

Safety reports and diagnostics

Members can report unsafe, inaccessible, or spam challenges. We store the reported challenge, reporting user ID, reason, status, and time to review abuse. Blocking a creator stores the blocked creator's ID, a challenge ID, and time under your profile, and creates a safety report. That creator's points are hidden from your list, and you cannot rejoin or collect their points while blocked. Blocking does not delete the creator's content for other members.

On Android, Firebase Analytics collects app usage, app-instance identifiers, and device information to help us understand and improve the app. Firebase Crashlytics collects crash and diagnostic information, such as app/device state and crash reports, to fix faults. We do not send precise visit samples as custom Analytics events. The app has no ads and does not use advertising ID collection for ads. Firebase Authentication, Cloud Functions, Firestore, Analytics, and Crashlytics are provided by Google; data is processed under the applicable Firebase privacy information and Google Privacy Policy. iOS native Analytics and Crashlytics are not currently connected.

Choices, retention, and deletion

You can deny foreground location permission, use a guest profile, choose whether to appear in member rankings, report or block a challenge, and delete your StampWalk profile in Settings. Without location permission you cannot collect a location-based stamp. The app has no advertising or payments.

We keep StampWalk profile, challenge, membership, award, and ranking records while needed to provide the service, until you delete your StampWalk data or the records are removed. Deleting your StampWalk profile removes your stamps, memberships, rankings, reports you made, and challenges you created. Deleting a place you created also removes its members' related awards and access. A limited user-ID deletion marker and timestamps may remain to prevent deleted data from being recreated during a deletion or old-session replay. Service-provider Analytics and diagnostic data may follow Google's separate retention settings and processes.

StampWalk shares a Firebase Authentication identity with other apps from this publisher. Deleting StampWalk data does not delete that shared Firebase identity or your Google account; the identity may still be used by those other apps. See how to request deletion.
